Weather conditions can vary significantly throughout your journey. In the Northern mountains, where elevations exceed 3,000 meters, even during mid-summer, the weather can become harsh with occasional snow flurries. Islamabad and the plains generally experience higher temperatures compared to the mountains. During autumn, the weather is usually pleasant, featuring warm days and cooler nights as you ascend higher. However, early snowfall in autumn can bring chilly temperatures, particularly during the night, so it’s important to be prepared.
Power cuts and internet outages are common in Gilgit Baltistan and you should be prepared for the possibility of this.
At our company, a significant portion, approximately 80%, of our clients are solo travelers, so the likelihood of you being alone on your journey is minimal.
Our pricing structure is typically based on twin-share accommodations. However, it’s important to note that single supplements are not mandatory for any of our tours. If you prefer not to pay for a single supplement, we will arrange for you to share accommodations with another solo traveler of the same gender throughout the duration of the trip.
If you choose to pay for a single supplement on this particular trip, please be aware that it will cover you for all nights of the tour except for accommodations at the local guest houses.
It’s worth mentioning that paying for a single supplement ensures you have sole occupancy of a single room. While these rooms are generally of similar size to double/twin rooms, there may be instances where they are slightly smaller.

This tour utilizes various modes of transportation, including, planes, cars, rickshaws, and 4×4, jeeps or land cruisers.
All our group transfers between locations will be taken in a privatized well maintained vehicle.

Please be aware of steep walks in valleys. Additionally, note that some driving days are extended due to road conditions rather than distance.

Pakistan is 5 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) and 10 hours ahead of Eastern Time (ET). The country does not observe daylight saving time.
You will need to arrive at Islamabad International Airport, Airport code (code ISB) on day 1 of your itinerary. If you would prefer to arrive a few days earlier, we would be happy to book additional hotel accommodation for you on request.
In order to reach Gilgit/Skardu, it is necessary to fly first to Islamabad and then take a domestic flight up to Gilgit/Skardu or travel on KKH /or Naran( only in summer months) to reach there.
There are multiple routes for travelers from Europe, East Asia, Austraila and the USA to reach Pakistan.
The primary gateway is Islamabad International Airport. Numerous airlines operate flights to Islamabad via the Middle East, with Qatar Airways, Gulf Air, Turkish Airline, Batik, Thai and Emirates being prominent options. These carriers offer daily flights with layovers at their respective hubs. However, it’s essential to scrutinize layover durations, as some can be considerably lengthy. Qatar Airways typically offers the shortest layovers, particularly at Doha.
Those coming from China can fly to Kashgar and enter Pakistan by road via Khunjerab pass to Pakistan and from India via only Wagha border between Lahore and Amritsar.
In summary, travelers have several flight options to reach Islamabad from Europe and the USA, with layovers in the Middle East or via Bankok. Careful consideration of layover duration and airline reputations can contribute to a smoother travel experience, particularly for those embarking on this trip in Pakistan.
Domestic flights from Islamabad to Skardu/Gilgit depart in the mornings and take roughly 1 hour. Remember that if you book your international and domestic flight separately, you will need to collect your luggage and check in again for your domestic flight. Be sure to allow enough time for this in between flights!
There are only two domestic airlines providing flights to Skardu /Gilgit PIA and Air blue from Islamabad to Skardu.
Most flights depart between 6am and 11am daily.
On arrival at the airport, once you have collected your luggage, please look out for a member of our local team in the arrivals area. They will then travel with you via a car to our hotel.
There are only two airports in Gilgit Baltistan.
But there is a daily flight from Islamabad whole year but subject to weather.
Almost all routes to Gilgit and Skardu require a layover in Islamabad, and often due to flight times, an overnight. Also flying in and out of this airport can be hair-raising, due to its geographical location high in the mountains.
Flights can only depart during the day when visibility is clear and the weather is favorable, so flight delays and cancellations are common.
Flights to Islamabad International Airport in Islamabad operate regularly from many around the world and it is easy to find direct flights. If you are coming from outside of Pakistan, you are definitely stopping in Islamabad before heading to Skardu/ Gilgit. You will need to go through Immigration and Customs and will need to retrieve your luggage even if your flight to Skardu/Gilgit is immediately afterwards.
If your flight lands in Islamabad after 9 AM , you will need to spend the evening in Islamabad. We recommend heading to the Islamabad city which takes about 35 minutes by taxi as there is no hotel close to airport.
From Islamabad, nonstop flights from Islamabad to Skardu or Gilgit Airport cost anywhere from $100 to $200 and run every day of the week. The flight is only 50 minutes long. We do recommend booking few weeks before departure as there is a high demand and low supply. They seem to cancel flights less often and have more options if you need to move your flight.
Another way to get there from Islamabad is by the road.
Hop on a bus from Rawalpindi Pirwadah Bus station to Skardu or Gilgit. There are many buses leaving to Skardu and Gilgit each day on KKH.
Crossing Khunjerab Pass from Tashkurgan, China to Pakistan (From April to November –
Monday -Friday except Holidays)
To do this crossing from China, you have to have your visa for Pakistan in advance by online or through the embassy consulate in your country. https://vepakistan.com/pakistan-visa-information/ you cannot get a Visa in Tashkurgan or Kashgar for Pakistan.
Also, there is no stop to purchase food/snacks/drinks along the way (Tashkurgan to Sost); so ensure that you take enough snacks /food/drink with you to last you this 4+hr drive You can to take a local bus to make this crossing. You can take a private car, higher in prices to bus but smoother and quicker. The bus that goes from China to Pakistan is run by the Xinjiang Province Govt; whereas the bus from Pakistan to China is run by NATCO, a Pakistani govt service. The bus tickets cannot be bought in advance. You can only purchase them on the day of travel. The purchase of the bus ticket and the start of the bus route for this border crossing bus is NOT at the bus stop in Tashkurgan town. Instead, go to the Customs/ Immigration building on the outskirts of Tashkurgan (towards Pakistan, about 2km outside Tashkurgan downtown); and buy the tickets (RMB 225 each, cash) at the small building at the far end of the parking lot of the Customs/Immigration building. The Bus is supposed to leave at 11:30AM Beijing time (9:30AM Uyghur time). However, the departure time can be late as all travelers have to clear through Chinese Customs and Immigration.. you need to keep your luggage with you, as the bus is not allowed to be loaded until it is cleared by Chinese Customs.
Note, There is a bathroom on the edge of the parking lot of the Customs building. Once you are through Customs/Immigration formalities, you cannot go anywhere unescorted (since you have officially left China). So bathroom visit here once you have cleared Customs/Immigration has to be escorted to the bathroom at edge of the parking lot. No other restrooms are provided.
Once you board the bus and leave, there is one Chinese soldier will join the bus and escort it all the way to the Khunjerab Pass Police border post. Along the way, there are multiple Chinese police posts where your passport /visa will be checked. There are NO bathroom facilities on the way; jungle bathrooms are your only choice.
At the border, the bus simply crosses over into Pakistan without stopping on the Chinese side, crosses over from right hand drive to left hand drive, and stops on the Pakistani side for a jungle bathroom break, and to take pictures.
In Pakistan, the Pakistan Customs/Immigration is in Sost, which is another 60+kms away. Along the way, you have to cross a Khunjerab National Park; for which foreigners are required to pay US$ 40 each (cash only, US$’s only). Pakistani and Chinese nationals don’t pay anything. So make sure you have the cash on hand.
In Sost you need get clear through Pakistani Customs and Immigration. Foreigners have a separate line, and takes much longer than Pakistanis and Chinese nationals. Make sure your Passport+ Visa are totally in order as they check everything very carefully. We can arranged your pick up from here for the rest of trip in Pakistan.
If you want to travel your own, you can take a mini bus/van during the day time to Hunza Aliabad, (approximately takes 2 hours travel time) and from there another bus onward to Gilgit ((approximately takes 3 hours travel time)).
From Gilgit you can catch a van to reach Skardu during day time only which takes 5+ hours.
Take a taxi, rickshaw from Amritsar to Wahga Border. The ride takes 45 minutes to 1 hour to reach Wahga Indian side. Cross the border by foot. (open from 10 am to 5 pm daily) Walk across the Border, After immigration at Pakistan side Take a bus or Rickshaw on to Lahore city which takes around 1 hour. From Lahore there are many buses leave for Islamabad after every 30 minutes. There is also train service from Lahore to Islamabad.
It is a requirement of joining any of our trips that you attend a pre-trip briefing the evening before the trip begins. This gives our guides the opportunity to speak to you about your adventure, and sort out any last-minute queries or concerns.
During the trekking part (if any) your luggage along with all the group equipment will be carried by porters. You should bring two bags with you, a large 80-100 litre duffel bag and a smaller 30-50 litre daypack. Your duffel bag will be carried by the porters each day and made available for you at camp each afternoon. Your daypack will stay with you at all times and should be used to carry spare clothing, water etc. At all other times your luggage will be transported by vehicle.
Please do not bring a rigid suitcase which is not suitable for carrying by the porters. A flexible duffel bag or backpack is best. Your main luggage must not exceed the luggage limit.
In order to pick up a signal in Gilgit Baltistan though, you will need SCOM SIM card, (a local cellular company) which you can easily buy in Skardu/Gilgit – by purchasing from their office.

In Pakistan, the currency used is the Pakistani Rupee (PKR). It’s important to note that the Pakistani Rupee is a closed currency, so you won’t be able to obtain it before your arrival. Therefore, it’s advisable to travel with US Dollars,Euro, Yuan, Pound Sterlingare any other major currency as they are widely accepted. Ensure that any US bills you carry are new (less than 10 years old), crisp,(no stamped, no writing on it) and untorn, as damaged bills may not be accepted.
If you require local currency, ATMs and banks are available, or you can exchange money at hotels in Islamabad. However, for the trip itself, it’s recommended to carry local currency and you may get a more favorable exchange rate in Islamabad.
For emergency funds, inform your credit or debit card issuer about your travel plans to avoid any issues with card usage abroad.
Souvenirs in Islamabad are generally affordable.
We understand that tipping customs vary across different countries, but in the context of Pakistan, tipping is prevalent. If you’re embarking on a trip in Pakistan with us, we adhere to the standard practice of tipping as recommended by the travel Agencies Association.
The decision on how much to tip should reflect the level of service provided by our team throughout your trip. Tipping is discretionary, and if you feel dissatisfied with the service, you are not obligated to tip. Tipping can be done in either US dollars or Pakistani Rupees. Please note that US bills should be new (less than 10 years old), crisp, and untorn.
As a guideline, we suggest budgeting $125-$175 per traveler for your tip contribution to guides and porters. It’s essential to remember that any tips for our porters should be carried with you during the trip.

Ensure that your passport remains valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned arrival date in Pakistan. We advise making a photocopy of your passport and storing it separately from the original; this precaution can be invaluable in case of loss during your travels. It’s imperative to carry your passport with you during the trip, as it is essential for internal flights and may be required for identification purposes.

Foreigners will need to obtain a Letter of Invitation (LOI) before they can apply for a visa. You will be able to get the LOI from us (being a licensed tour operator), along with, company registration documents and any other documents you may need.
Below we have set out what is the general guidance for travel to Pakistan. We strongly advise you to consult with your own GP or travel clinic near you before traveling. They will have the most up to date and medically accurate information relevant to you, and should be relied upon over these recommendations.
Strongly Advised Vaccinations
– Hepatitis A: This can be spread via contaminated food and water.
– Tetanus: Tetanus is often present in the soil, and can contaminate open wounds easily. Tetanus vaccine should be used every ten years if traveling.
– Typhoid: Typhoid can also be spread via contaminated food and water, and poor hygiene.
– Diphtheria: This potentially fatal disease is spread mainly via spit, but occasionally through contact with cuts on the skin.
– Yellow Fever: This can be contracted by being bitten by a contaminated mosquito. This vaccination is not essential if you are arriving directly in Pakistan. You do need it though if you plan to arrive through any country that is subject to yellow fever. Simply stopping over at an airport in an affected country should not require vaccination, but leaving the airport even briefly would make it necessary.
In Pakistan, the risk of malaria is not prevalent in higher altitude regions like Skardu or most Himalaya Karkoram trips we organize. However, travelers should be aware of the risk of malaria in areas below 1,500m, particularly in regions like Islamabad, Naran, Chilas, Rawalpindi, it’s essential to take anti-malarial medication and follow preventive measures such as wearing long-sleeved clothing and using DEET-based mosquito repellent to avoid mosquito bites, especially during dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are active.
Trekking at high altitude does have dangers. You should ensure that you have good insurance to cover these risks.
We suggest to go with a plan that will cover you for damage to your personal effects and offers compensation for emergency helicopter rescues (just in case). Read the fine print and confirm that you are covered for adventure sports like trekking at altitude.
Some companies won’t cover you if an accident occurs over a certain altitude. Since the maximum altitude gained on the trip is around 4,800 m, you’ll need to be covered up to that elevation.

During the pre-trip briefing, please provide a copy of your insurance policy to your guide, who will collect your insurance details. We also advise keeping a copy of your policy summary, including the policy number and emergency contact information for your insurer, in your daypack at all times. Covid Testing: No mandatory testing is currently required for vaccinated or unvaccinated travellers.
It’s important to take precautions against the strong sun exposure in various parts of Pakistan that you’ll be visiting.

Exercise caution when eating fresh fruits and vegetables, ensuring they have been thoroughly washed, peeled, or cooked in clean water before consumption.
Public restrooms in Pakistan may not always be well-equipped. It’s advisable to carry essentials like bathroom tissue and hand sanitizer with you.
Don’t forget to pack a small first aid kit in your carry-on bag, including items like antacids, antidiarrheals, motion sickness medication, and any prescribed medicines you regularly take.

Today either you can relax or (depending upon your arrival time) you can enjoy an exploratory walk in he old part of Rawalpindi; wander past the vegetable and spice markets, beautifully carved old houses and trucks, cows pestering the vegetable vendors, catch traditional craftsmen at work in silver and gold bazaars .You will then continue on the main street linking the Twin cities – Murree Road – before arriving at the gleaming new capital, Islamabad. You pass shining new buildings and thousands of park areas – a full 50 percent of the 350 square mile site is set aside for parks. You will then stop at the Shakar Parian to catch a bird’s eye view of Islamabad. Our next stop will be Shah Faisal Mosque which is the landmark of Islamabad. We leave today after breakfast for Swat, a picturesque northern Pakistan valley towards north east. It has a rich historical past, too. The “Udayana” (Golden) of the ancient Hindu epics; the land of enthralling beauty, where Alexander of Macedonia fought and won some of his major battles before crossing over the plans of Pakistan. This is the “valley of hanging chains” described by the famous Chinese pilgrim chronices, Huain Tsang and Fa-Hian in the fifth and sixth centuries. Swat was also the historical land where the Muslim conquerors, Mahmud Ghaznavi, Babar and Akbar fought their battles preparatory to conquest of South Asia. En route we visit the Bala Hisar mound at a distance of 28 kilometers dating back to 2500 years old and the capital of Gandhara from sixth century B.C to second century A.D. According to Herodotus , the Greek historian writing in about 460 B.C Darius sent the explorer Scylax of Caryanda to sail down from here and find the sea. Gandhara remained with Achaemenid Empire for next 200 years until its overthrow by Alexander the Great in the fourth century B.C. Our next stop will be at Takht e Bahi Buddhist monastery of first century A.D. It has 38 votive stupas and the largest statues must have been 33 feet high donated by rich pilgrims, supposed to enshrine the ashes of Lord Buddha and surrounded by the chapels. Then we will see the cells of Monks in the Monastery Court. These cells are believed to be originally plastered and painted in different colours. The next part of our journey is to Chakdara passing through the Malakand Pass. Photo stop at the top of this pass will allow admire superb panoramic views over the valley. There is also a Fort built by the British. There are also a few Churchill Piquets all along the Pass. These security check posts were used by the British army to watch the movements of local Pathan tribes who fought against them. Despite the heavy fights that lasted years, the British army never succeeded in defeating local tribes who posed them fierce resistance. In fact, British controlled the whole subcontinent except this zone which is now known as Khyber Pakhtoonkhaw. After break fast we drive towards Dir along the Dir river to Dir valley. From Dir it takes six to seven hours drive via Loweri Pass and four to five hours by Lowari Tunnel to reach Chitral Valley. This drive to Chitral via the pass is spectacular and you will enjoy each moments of our drive long drive. The Lowari Pass at a height of 3,100 meters with zigzag descend with breathtaking views of Chitral Valley are as fascinating g as any other alpine valley. Today we leave to the most exciting part of our tour is visit to Kalash Valley, the home of the Kafir-Kalash or “Wearers of the Black Robes”, a primitive pagan tribe. Their ancestry is enveloped in mystery and is the subject of controversy. A legend says that five soldiers of the legions of Alexander of Macedonia settled in Chitral and are the progenitors of the Kafir-Kalash. The Kalash women wear black gowns of coarse cloth in summer and hand-spun wool dyed in black in winter. Their picturesque headgear is made of woolen black material decked out with cowry shells, buttons and crowned with a large colored feather.You can also visit a typical Kalash house to observe their life style and Kalasha Museum in Bumboret. Today morning from Kalash valley we will drive to Chitral and continue drive on Chitral Mustuj valley road passing through the scenic Booni villages, stopping enroute for rest and visiting local village house to upper Chitral Mastuj. The main villages include Buni, Mastuj, Chuinj, Parkusap, Reshun, Parwak, Kuragh and Aveer. Mastuj is one of the most beautiful towns in Chitral. It is with an altitude of 2359 metres (7742 feet), starts right after the end of Baranis, Reshun, Kuragh, Buni, Aveer, Parwak, Mastuj, Chinar, Chuinj, Chapali, Kargin are the main areas of Mastuj valley. After a morning sightseeing around Mastuj, we will start to drive towards Shandur pass and Lakes. Shandur Top (3,700 m)) located in Ghizer District, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. Shandur is often called the ‘Roof of the World’. The top is flat, a plateau. The grade is very gradual, and the area is crossed by plentiful small streams during summer. The boundary line between Ghizer District and Chitral District is also situated in Shandur Top. After a brief stop here we will continue our drive through to phander lake.Visit Phander lake and optional trout fishing activity there. Drive to Khalti lake, Ishkoman valley, and back to Gahkoh Ghizer valley. Ghizer joins with Wakhan strip on its north-west, and China on its northern borders. On its west, there is Chitral District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and on its east is situated Gilgit. This district is also connected to Tajikistan through Yasin valley and Karumber Pass. The population mostly comprises of Gujjars. The word Ghizer is derived from local language’s “Gharz”, which translates to “immigrant”. The rulers of Chitral were known as Mehtar. The people they didn’t ‘approve of’ were exiled to Gupis in Ghizer. These people soon occupied most of the Gupis. Gupis has been serving as a junction between yasin and phander valley. The beautiful landscape of Gupis valley is breathtaking. The turquoise water of river flowing along the road and surrounding fields and forests present a very charming scene to the visitors. It is the central place from all valleys like phandar, yasin. poniyal etc. We will visit Khalti Lake and Phander lake. Phander valley which is commonly called “Little Kashmir”. Phander Lake is one of the most famous tourist spots in the entire region. Phander valley was the bread basket for the whole Northern Areas. The name of Ghizer comes from the name of a village ‘Ghizer’ that is situated in the vicinity of Phander The deep blue lake in Phander offers a magnificent view and is basically the home of trout fish. Located at a 20-30 minutes drive from Gupis, the Khalti lake is one of the very beautiful lakes found in Ghizer district of Gilgit Baltistan. Khalti lake is famous for being habitat of trout fish. The lake is formed due to stretch of river near the village of Khalti. The dark blue water of lake on a clear day looks very charming. The lake usually freezes during winter and villagers of Khalti use to walk on this. Visit Kargah Nala, Old Gilgit town home visit for cultural insight. Evening drive to scenic Naltar valley, home to flowery meadows, lakes and spectacular greenery. The peaks surrounding Naltar Valley have dozens of 5000m summits. Naltar was a British hill station and has some Pakistan military facilities, including a Pakistan Air Force winter survival school with ski lift Naltar receives more rainfall than other mountains/valleys in the range , and its alpine forests are refreshing compared to the mainly arid Karakoram. Morning visit to Baltit Fort. Baltit Fort is an ancient fort in the Hunza valley in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. Founded in the 1st CE, it has been on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative list since 2004.In the past, the survival of the feudal regime of Hunza was ensured by the impressive fort, which overlooks Karimabad. The foundations of the fort date back to 700 years ago, with rebuilds and alterations over the centuries. In the 16th century the local prince married a princess from Baltistan who brought master Balti craftsmen to renovate the building as part of her dowry. Visit around the area, you would feel as if you’d stepped back in time in past period. After Baltit Fort you go to Ganish village. Ganish is the oldest and first settlement on the ancient Silk Road in Hunza, and is the site of various ancient watch towers, traditional mosques, religious centers, and a reservoir.The Ali Gohar House in Ganish, is located next to one of the iconic shikaris (watchtowers) of the town. The 400-year-old house was awarded the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation in 2009 Then we proceed to Altit Fort. Altit Fort is an ancient fort at Altit town in the Hunza valley,It was originally home to the hereditary rulers of the Hunza state who carried the title Mir.Altit Fort and in particular the Shikari tower is around 1100 years old, which makes it the oldest monument in the Gilgit–Baltistan. Then go up to the highest observation place at Duikar to enjoy 360-degree panoramic view and sunset reflections on peaks of lady finger, Haramosh peak, Rakaposhi and many others. Today’s drive will take us to Khunjerab Pass, Khunjerab Pass, the gateway to China via the Karakoram Highway, is at 4,934m.which half of the park is above 4,000m. Khunjerab National Park is Pakistan’s third largest national park. It is adjacent to Taxkorgan Natural Reserve (1,400,000ha) in China. You will enjoy a short trip up to Khunjerab Pass on Karakoram Highway; it gives some of spectacular sceneries for photographers of wild life. where you may have a sighting of endangered Marco Polo sheep, which is only found in this area in Pakistan. The park is also famous for its snow leopards. Some reports say that it might contain the highest density of these beautiful cats in the total Himalayan ecosystem, which is the natural habitat of these cats. Over 2,000 Siberian ibex, widely distributed and abundant in the park but absent from neighbouring China, are also present here. After Breakfast, we will start our journey towards Skardu via scenic Rondu valley. SKARDU is the administrative capital of Baltistan and gateway to the high peaks of Northern Pakistan. We have some time to explore the town and enjoy the hustle and bustle in peak season of tourists here. Sightseeing in Skardu and surrounding areas during the day. For those seeking a good overview of Skardu, or a place from which to photograph the sunset, Kharfocho Fort is an ideal spot. If the flight is unable to operate because of bad weather, we will resort to travel by road on Karakoram Highway (KKH) to Chilas. We pass through the historical town of Taxila, beautiful hill station of Abbottabad, quake affected lush green towns of Mansehra, Shinkiari and finally meet the great Indus on Thakot Bridge. From there onward the road snails along the bank of the Indus with contrasting landscape after every two kilometers. Standing at around 1,000 m. you see a mountain which rises to above 8,000 m! This is the largest land escarpment in the world. This is also where the three greatest mountain ranges meet; Himalaya, Hindukush and Karakoram. Today we rise early and view the beautiful sunrise against the backdrop of the Karakorm. After breakfast drive to Shigar, a history-soaked medieval town. Enroute we will visit Shigar sand dunes. These are on other side of the Indus, impressive sand dunes are visible. It is on the way to Shigar valley, but around 2 km away from the road. After sand dunes visit, we will continue our drive toward Shigar passing through historic Buddhist Stupa ruins, which is no more in preservation. At Shigar view point, we will stop to take photos of Shigar valley and Blind lakes and sand duens on other side of Shigar River. Shigar Valley is the gateway to the great mountain peaks of the Karakorams, Gasherbrum & K-2, Broad Peak, Biafo and Baltoro Glaciers, Snow lake, Mashabrum, Trango Tower and other hunderds of 7000m peaks. Shigar valley, formerly known as “Rome of Baltistan” has gentle, irrigated slopes are filled with terraces of wheat, maize and barley. Its orchards of apricots, mulberries, peaches, plums, pears, apples and nuts are unique to Baltistan. The wooden mosque in the middle of the town was built by Kashmiri carpenters several hundred years ago. There is also a heritage Palace cum Fort (Fong khar ). Completely renovated by the AKCSP a few years back, the Palace and its suburbs reflects a medieval look. Here we will pay a brief visit to the Garden House, Royal room, museum handicraft shop and The Khanqah Moalla, famous for its uniquely carved wooden windows and meditation cells. Shigar retains a mystical, medieval aura that may leave you feeling like you have stepped through the looking glass. Evening drive back to Skardu. Today after breakfast we will drive to Khaplu valley. This beautiful valley of the Shyok River is 103 km east of Skardu. Khaplu is the starting point for most trekking and climbing expeditions. Many famous mountains such as Masherbrum, Saltoro, Sia Kangri, K-6, K-7 are located here. There is a Palace of Raja of Khaplu and remains of Thors. Khaplu is the administrative capital of the Ghanche District of Gilgit-Baltistan. visit Khaplu Palace and Khaplu view point. We will make a trip to Chaqchan Mosque. The Masjid Chqchan means the Miraculous mosque in Khaplu, Baltistan built by Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadani or by Shah Syed Muhammad Nurbakhsh Qahistani Sufi in 1370(A.D) is one of the oldest mosque in Baltistan and Pakistan. It is one of Baltistan’s most famous landmarks and a major tourist attraction. The Government of Pakistan also listed the inclusion of the Chqchan Mosque as a Pakistan Heritage Site. After this we will visit Saling Fish Point. Here we can enjoy angling. Today early morning departure for Deosai, Located in the Great Himalayan Range, conveniently placed between the western massif of the Himalayas and the central Karakoram. It’s stunning scenic views of the snow-clad mountains and streams, natural beauty and impressive grandeur have made it world famous. Spread over an area of 3,000 square kilometres, at an altitude of 13,500 feet above sea level, the plains are home to unique species of plant and animal life, of which the Himalayan Brown Bears are the most famous. In the words of Aleister Crowley, “In front of us lay the Deosai, an absolutely treeless wilderness of comparatively level country framed by minor peaks. It gives a unique impression of desolation. I have never seen its equal in this respect elsewhere.” To the south of and visible from both the Burji and Satpara approaching areas is a 700-foot hill, on top of which is a 500 foot-high-rock cairn. This unnamed hilltop in the northern deosai region produces a clear panorama of the Himalayan Kangri Range and sections of the Karakoram. As you ascend its gentle, grass covered slopes, Nanga Parbat will come into view far to the west of you. In ‘Gypsy Davy’s’ words, “It was such an expanse of immensity as I have hardly imagined…It seems you cannot talk in a matter-of-fact way in a place like that…I thought the Sierras were large, but here, where we could see three or four score miles north, south, east and west, and see only mountains, and most of them above twenty thousand feet, the Sierras seem like sand dunes”. Shaucer lake (3-4 hours from Skardu), Shatong nala (2 hours) , Bara Pani (two and half hours) and Kala Pani (3 to 3-30 hours) are the most visited spots in Deosai. Deosai is one of the best trout fishing spot in the North. In the afternoon we will drive via Chilim to Rupal valley and stay overnight at Traishing, south face of Nanga Parbat. The Rupal Valley is located in the Astore District. It lies just south of 8,126 meter Nanga Parbat and is popular for treks to the mountain’s Rupal Face, one of highest mountain faces in the world. The Rupal is home to Shina speaking herdsmen, who have grazed and harvested wood in the valley for hundreds of years. Overgrazing has caused some loss of vegetation, leading to wind-blown dust. Towering peaks on either side of the valley make it a breathtaking, albeit remote destination for adventurers. Astore valley, adjoining the eastern side of mountain Nanga Parbat, is about 120 km (75 mi) long, having area of 5,092 km2 (1,966 sq mi). Rama lake and pastures are the most famous tourist attraction in the region. Due to its diverse landscape and climatic conditions the valley provides excellent habitat for a variety of commercially important medicinal plants. Rama Lake is a lake near Astore in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. It is on the top of the beautiful Astore Valley, with a light cover of oak trees and other greenery. The region has low average rainfall and low vegetation cover hence the loss of forest cover is of a very serious concern. Today after breakfast drive from Astore to Karakoram Highway at Thalechi and then leave for Naran on the Karakoram Highway and Naran Chilas Road through captivating and enthralling landscape of zigzag road winding through terraced filed, fruit laden orchard and above Babusar pass at a height of 4145 m. The Valley extends for 155 km rising from an elevation of 2,134 meters to its highest point, the Babusar Pass, at 4,145 meters. Before Karakoram Highway was opened in 1978, the only road access to Gilgit was through Kaghan Valley.Kaghan valley is a very beautiful & attractive valley. That’s why it is called virtual paradise, unbelievably in pristine state and still unspoiled by the human. You’ll find the Himalayan peaks hidden with clouds or snow, somewhere you’ll find the beautiful fairy tale lakes, which will attract you toward them, and you might decide not to leave this at any cost.Take a rest at the pass enjoying the scenic beauty around before descending down to Lulusar lake. Lulu Sar Lake which is wreathed in blue and gold wild flowers, and is the main source of river Kunhar. Near Gittidas is the 11,000 feet high Lulusar Lake out of which river Kunhar issues anew with redoubled strength to flow down the valley first as placid blue stream and then a roaring torrent until it joins the Jhelum. Lulusar has very enchanting beauty and its view remains in the mind of tourist for a long time. The is surrounded by snowcapped hills whose purple and white forms are reflected in the green-blue waters of the silent lake, making it one of the most beautiful spots in the valley. Take a rest at Lulusar lakes and drive down to Naran stopping at Gittidas, Batakundi for scenic photo ops. These are numerous scenic places, sheer, snow capped mountains ascending from deep valleys, lush alpine meadows are carpeted by colorful wildflowers and dazzling fruits. Terraced villages dot this monumental terrain, supported by traditional farming methods and lifestyles that have changed little over the centuries. Naran to Lake Saiful Muluk dusty jeep track is approximately 9 km in length with hiking tracks difficulty level ranging from easy to medium. It can be traveled by jeep in one Hour. Net elevation gain is around 700m (2300 feet). It is almost impossible to describe the beauty of this lake, which is like mirror at the altitude of 3200 meters. The Queen of the Mountains is standing in the east and looking her image in the mirror of Lake Saiful Maluk. You can spend few days here to monitor the guards of lake, which are towering peaks and spread all around the lake. Drive in the morning to the top of shogran valley, amidst clouds and natural beauty and drive down to Balakot. Aftter a brief stop at Balakot, drive onward to mansehra stopping at scenic points for photo ops and also in Manserha to visit Ashoka Rock Eddicts. Mansehra Rock Edicts are fourteen edicts of the Mauryan emperor Ashoka, inscribed on rocks in Mansehra. The edicts are cut into three boulders and date back to 3rd century BC and they are written in the ancient Indic script of Gandhara culture, Kharosthi. The edicts mention aspects of Ashoka’s dharma. This site is World Heritage Sites tentative list. After Manserha rock edicts visit, we will pass through the alpine scenery of Galyat and Murree towards Islamabad. In some of the monuments one has to pay fee for the photography. Our guide will suggest you where it is worth to photograph and where not. At some of the locations photography is not allowed. It is prohibited to photograph military installations, which can include some the train stations, bridges and airports also.Do not photograph these objects otherwise your film can be confiscated.

By comparison, the K2 Region is a very well and worldly part of Pakistan. That said, whenever you travel in Pakistan (or anywhere in the world for that matter), you should definitely use personal caution. We avoid any known dangerous situations. We monitor political situations posted by the government Office and ground reports from our staff and network of contacts. As when traveling in any region, make sure to keep an eye on your possessions and take certain common-sense measures to prevent theft or dangerous situations. The first rule of trekking K2 Base Camp is to step to the wall side when you meet a mule, since otherwise you can be knocked off the edge. The main danger for most people doing the straight-in, straight-out route is altitude sickness(AKA Acute Mountain Sickness or AMS). For most people, this can be avoided by sleeping no more than 300 metres higher than you did the night before and taking an acclimatisation day every 1000 metres. Serious AMS is more common in folk doing group tours than in independent trekkers. Other common injuries are twisted ankles and sprains. Rock falls, moraine and glacier crossings add significant risk to longer treks involving crossing high passes such as the Gondogoro-La. As always, it’s unwise to trek solo in case you fall and can’t extricate yourself: Do note, that it is illegal to trek solo.
